Job Description:

Early Years Educator Wobbler Room (25hrs/wk) required at Sunflowers in Lucan.

Sunflowers Childcare is one of the leading full service early years childcare facilities in Lucan; employing 16 staff and caring for 55 children Monday to Friday aged between 12 months and 12 years. Due to ongoing expansion we are currently recruiting for an Early Years Educator for our Wobbler Room. Our opening hours are 7:30am-6:30pm; you will be expected to work shifts within these hours. Benefits include 11.5 days/year paid Annual Leave  for this part-time position plus paid Bank Holidays; regular paid tea/coffee breaks; parking, hot beverages and uniform are provided free of charge. NB Because this is a role which has Monday & Friday as a normal day you will also get fully paid holidays for all Bank Holidays which fall on  Mondays/Fridays - usually an additional 10 paid holidays per year!

Start Date: 24th October or ASAP after

Hours: 25hrs/wk; Monday 7:30am-6:30pm; Tuesday 7:30am-12:30pm/1:30pm-6:30pm (alternating); Friday 7:30-6:30pm

Salary: Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications, but will be attractive, including the benefits described above, for the right person.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an Early Years Educator in the Wobbler Room you will be a key member of the Sunflowers team, responsible for delivering high quality care and learning opportunities for children aged 12 months-2 years, based on the needs and interests of those children.

Some of your duties will be:

·         Supporting  the children’s play, and consequently their learning and development

·         Ensuring  health, safety and well being of the children including nappy changes, sleep and feeding routines

·         Providing a warm, caring and developmentally challenging environment for these young children

·         Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues

·         Maintaining professionalism at all times

·         Inducting new babies (12+ months) into the service

·         Preparing and serving food for the children in the service

The successful candidate must have:

·         Qualification in childcare (minimum FETAC/QQI level 5) with previous experience working in a busy childcare setting; ideally with the 12-24 month age group

·         Excellent interaction and  communication skills – fluency in both spoken and written English

·         Experience of and desire to be a team player; but able to work independently

·         Flexibility, self-motivation, initiative and drive

·         Knowledge and experience of working with the Aistear Curriculum Framework.
